The ad is decided before the camera comes out

Most content fails as an ad because nobody thought about the ad until after the edit. We do it the other way round.

The ad is decided before the camera comes out

CLNR is run by someone who bought media before she picked up a camera. That order matters, and it is most of why the shoot looks the way it does.

The usual sequence is: shoot something nice, edit something nice, then hand it to whoever runs the ads and ask them to make it perform. By that point every real decision has already been made. The framing is fixed. The first two seconds are a slow establishing shot. There is no version of the clip that opens on the thing that would actually stop a thumb.

What gets decided on set

If you know a piece of footage might run as an ad, the shoot day changes in small, cheap ways.

  • You shoot the hook first, not the beauty shot. The moment that would work as an opening frame gets its own setup, not a lucky grab at the end of the day.
  • You shoot it more than one way. Same action, three framings. That is what makes creative testing possible later without booking another day.
  • You leave room for text. Vertical framing with headroom, so a caption does not have to sit across someone's face.
  • You get the claim on camera. If the offer is going to be in the ad, the person who runs the place says it out loud, in their own words, on the day.

None of that costs extra time on set. It costs thinking about it beforehand, which is free.

Why the ads stay optional

We run paid media on Meta and TikTok for the businesses that want it. It is a separate line from the shoot, and the rest does not get cheaper if you skip it.

We keep it optional deliberately. Plenty of businesses do not need paid distribution — they need to stop looking dormant, and organic does that. Bundling ads into everything would mean selling spend to people who do not need it, and you would stop trusting the recommendation.

But the shoot is planned with the ad in mind either way. If you take the ads later, the footage is already built for it. If you never do, you have simply lost nothing.

The part nobody enjoys

Reporting is plain: what was spent, what came back, what to cut. Not a dashboard with forty widgets. If something is not working we say so early, because the alternative is spending your money to protect our result.
